Imlil sits at around 1,740m at the end of the road, and is the launching point for Toubkal — at 4,167m the highest peak in North Africa.

This is the most mountainous day you can do from Marrakech without staying overnight. You walk between stone villages and walnut terraces with a local guide, with the Toubkal massif filling the head of the valley.

This is the most mountainous day you can do from Marrakech without staying overnight. You walk between stone villages and walnut terraces with a local guide, with the Toubkal massif filling the head of the valley.

Do I need to be fit?

For the standard walk, no — it is a couple of hours at an easy pace with plenty of stops. Longer options up towards the Toubkal refuge do need hiking fitness.

Is there snow?

On the high peaks from roughly December to April, and occasionally in the village itself. The valley walk stays open year round.

Can we climb Toubkal?

Not in a day trip. Toubkal needs two days minimum with a night at the refuge — tell us and we will quote it separately.
